hello,
id like to show a newsletter checkbox field in a content section so people can sign up for articles of that section. is this do-able? i tried the content bot, but i only managed to get the values of the logged in user to show up.

CB can not add fields all over Joomla, simply not how it works. You'll need custom development or some sort of extension that provides what you're needing. CB can not do this nor can the content bot (it just renders substitutions inside of Joomla articles).
