[#2783] Error message in User Management and Registration

12 years 6 months ago #177310 by krileon
Are you able to successfully replicate your issue or is this only a problem with that specific user? I don't see this being a problem of CB or even your site. It's very likely the users browser or computer directly. If there's no way to reliably duplicate over and over then it's likely not the fault of the code as code is absolute and does not "sometimes" break. I could not confirm your issue in any of my test installs.

No, I haven't been able to duplicate his situation either and he has not yet responded to my requests for more information about his system. I didn't mean to imply that it was caused by CB or CBSubs, I just wanted to pass on what was reported to me.

No worries, is appreciated. :) Was simply stating don't see it being your site at fault.

If you receive any further reports with further information detailing how to duplicate please do let us know. It's common for browsers to be infected with a virus, addons erroring out, etc.. to cause strange issues and likely suspect this is the case.

I turned off Ajax and this user was successful in registering. I will contact him again for additional information.

Another issue has appeared since the 1.7 upgrade; with IE8 only, the registration form flashes on the screen and then disappears, leaving only a blank area where the form should be. I believe this is a template related problem, but not certain and I'm trying to diagnose now.

Sounds template related as couldn't duplicate on a clean install. If you're using an Ajax or jQuery heavy template you're likely going to be prone to several "odd" issues in IE9 as it's very buggy regarding jQuery (any release of jQuery below 1.5 won't work in IE9). I recommend testing with default Joomla template.

I tested the registration page using the JA_Purity template with IE8 and the result is the same as with the site template; the registration page flashes on screen and then disappears leaving a blank form. This only happens with IE8. This did not happen with the previous version of CB. Has something changed within v1.7 that could cause this?
