500 Internal Server Error with going to CB Configu

installed CB on a new site (www.rotarycluboceanside.org) and everything went fine. However when i go to the CB Configuration menu option, i get a 500 server error (Server Error - 500 Requested URL - /administrator/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=showconfig&view=showconfig) .

I could not find anything specific in the FAQs or forums though here is my recent error log entry.
[Sun Jul 22 08:01:35 2012] [error] [client 99.184.195.79] File does not exist: /home/rotaryvb/public_html/500.shtml, referer: rotarycluboceanside.org/administrator/index.php?option=com_users&view=users

everything else seems to work fine. i'm running CB 1.8.1, Joomla 2.5.6 and PHP 5.2.17

Please enable debug mode and maximum error reporting in Joomla global configuration. Once done attempt to navigate to configuration again and see if there are any fatal errors present. If none please check your server error log. This typically happens when a fatal PHP or SQL error occurs. It sometimes will occur when your PHP memory limit is too low, but often that's just a blank page (check anyway and increase if necessary.. should be no less than 32mb).

When i enabled debug and maximum reporting, i was able to access the configuration page....no problem. However, as soon as i turned that off, the issue reoccurred.

The server error log is empty (except for a missing file message unrelated to CB or Joomla) and we have the PHP memory limit set at 64.

any other thoughts?

No idea, that's pretty strange for it to work with debug mode and not without. It's usually the opposite actually. Try disabling 3rd party CB plugins 1 by 1 and see if it resolves. If not repeat with Joomla system 3rd party plugins.
