Latest build now has this layout available. Please understand it's not going to work nicely in every module position. It makes no assumption of how much or how little space is available. It simply renders the registration page as is inside the module.

No, it's not using an iframe. It's rendering the registration form the same exact way the registration page is rendered through API.

When I go to "Advanced Options" in the module and set the Layout to "registration" the module is not rendered in the front end anymore, not even the module title. Why is that?

That mode displays the registration page output. If the user is already logged in it will suppress the module because an already logged in user can not go through registration. Logout and then recheck if it displays fine.
