I had to revisit this ticket since the importance of GJ has been increased for my site.
Just a quick update on the status, I went right back to using sh404 for CB because I set users' emails as fallback user IDs, which show users email address on their profile URLs when joomla router is used.
Any suggestion to deal with this situation?

Please do not bump year old topics to the top. Simply create a new topic and link to it if relevant. Also as explained in the previous topic GJ already has SEF routing. We are not going to implement support for sh404sef. We only support Joomlas built in SEF.
As for profile URLs you can use the Profile URL (alias) field and mark it required to force users to supply a profile url that isn't their email address since SEF URLs use the username, which you've set to fallback to email address.
