[#7601] CB Activity showing Kunena posts of private forums

4 years 9 months ago - 4 years 9 months ago #312876 by Vorak
Hello,

On my site, I use Kunena for the forums of which some are accessible only to to certain user groups. While most forums are available to all registered users, some of them are only supposed to be accessible to e.g. Joomla admins. The Joomla ACL is used for this.
In the meantime, I also have it enabled that forum posts will appear in the activity stream of CB Activity.

However, when an admin posts in a private forum (which regular registered users have no access to), this post also appears on CB Activity. Other users, who are not an admin, can then see that post and its contents on CB Activity. They can't click the link to access the post directly on Kunena, of course, but the post appears to them on CB Activity itself.

Is there a way so that forum posts only appear to those who are supposed to have access to it, on CB Activity? Otherwise, it defeats the purpose of having a private forum.

Thanks!

There's no display access check for Kunena activity. Will review implementing one in CB Activity 5.0.0.

Hello,

Thanks for taking that up in the planning.

Another option, or addition, might be to select which forums should or shouldn't be included in the Activity. (instead of, or in addition to, ACL). Just a thought :)

Thanks!

It's just an auto action. It will never have such capability. If you want to be able to limit from which categories it logs activity you'll need to make a copy of the system action then adjust the conditions as necessary. That however just controls if the activity gets logged or not and has nothing to do with checking access on display, which is now implemented and working for CB Activity 5.0.0.

Hello,

I have just now updated CB Activity to the latest version.

I tested with a forum post in a restricted Kunena forum, and a test account that does not have access to said forum. The forum post does not appear on the activity wall of the test account, so it is as it should be.

So it's safe to assume the Kunena ACL implementation in CB Activity has been added, and is automatically active?
Thanks!

Yup, access checks for Kunena activity were implemented in CB Activity 5.0.0 as per feature ticket forge.joomlapolis.com/issues/7601.
