I've noticed that the activity wall shows all activity from every user (even people that the user does not have connections with!!!). I like the wall but it only works when you have a wall where people who post can only be seen by people they are connected with. Nobody wants to see post by people they don't even know. Is there some kind of setting I'm missing? I looked at the joomla module activity and the cb activity and both show post by users that I'm not connected with.

Sounds like you're on the Recent Activity page? That's doing as designed which is to display all activity accessible to the viewing user. The activity profile tab already works as you're wanting unless you changed the Asset parameter of the tab. If you want a Joomla menu item to behave same as activity profile tab then be sure to use the My Activity action instead of Recent Activity.
