How can I change the filed type? was created by sonservant
Hello,
I created a custom filed, "Number of employees" and selected "checkbox (multiple). I saved the filed and then didn't like the way it looked in the registration form.
I went to edit the field and change it to "dropdown (multi-select)" but the dropdown to select field type is grayed out.
How can the field type be changed after it is saved?
Thanks.

If you can its best to just remove the old field and create a new one.

If you know what you are doing you can use phpmyadmin to find the relevant row in your comprofiler_fields table and modify the type column from multicheckbox (which is the type for the checkbox(multiple)) to multiselect (which is the type for dropdown (multi-select)).

Make sure you backup your database before attempting such changes.

Out of curiosity, why is the GUI option locked after a save?

Because the data structure depends on the field type.

You cannot convert a text field to an integer field and vice versa.
Or an image field to a text field.

Its locked for your protection.
