Working as intended; the reason needs to be "profile" for the fullsize image.[cb:userdata field="avatar" reason="list" /]
gives the same result.
[cb:userfield field="avatar" reason="list" /]
Displays the THUMB image.

Google search regarding patching will turn up thousands of tutorials. Quick approach (if using windows) is to download and install "WinMerge" to apply patches (we always prepare patches from Joomla root, so apply it there). I use Netbeans IDE (free open source) and also generate my patches from it so it can also be used to apply them.I was talking about the manual approach. But anyway, there is no general hint about the .patch file format... i am sure, I would not have asked, if there would be a common hint or a wiki... how to deal with such a file. I guess, i am firm in manual modds with many different filetypes etc. just a little tiny help link would make a big difference. (Side-effect: People like me won´t bother you )
I see, was able to duplicate and have created a bug ticket as follows. The [avatar] should still return the full path, but userdata substitutions should be able to specify a reason to change the output which currently doesn't work.I see, but that does not explain why my example image link did work in CB 1.2.+
[avatar] did just output the filename !?! I used it with ContentBot in an article. The article is a membership-card with a photo.
"userdata" usage is currently bugged and doesn't accept $reason. Please see above forge ticket. Thanks for this valuable information. I tried to read everything about Substitutions and I visited your Tutorial page 1000 times But the parameter "reason" is not listed, nor explained!? How should we know how to use it? Did I miss something?
