just an advice : May you use OpenSEF ? You may test it, provided it does not break pages. Otherwise, you may use the standard SEF, which is not resource hungry.

That way, professionalrockstars.com/backstage/index.php?option=com_magazine&func=show_edition&id=34
would become (with standard SEF)
professionalrockstars.com/backstage/option,com_magazine/func,show_edition/id,34/
or with OpenSEF
professionalrockstars.com/backstage/magazine/sex/ (i guess)
which is good looking

Standard SEF wreaked some havoc during my original tests.
Just downloaded OpenSEF and will be giving that a shot.

what is hard to read is the police you use for the standard text.
I think this is hard to read. This is pretty, ok, but hard to read.
