When I click in the configuration file i can only pick GD 2.x but when I go to upload a foto in the user profile I cannot because it says "Error: PHP running on your server does not support GD version 2.x, please switch to GD version 1.x on the config page".

There is no way to pick the GD version 1.x?

On CB RC1 I had the option even though none of the 4 were installed (netpdm, imagemagick, gd1, gd2).

Now this CB RC2 I can't even pick, the only option is GD2. Should I have these installed on my server or is there some other way to fix this?
