I wanted to change the default avatar image. (nophoto) I deleted it and put in a different one via ftp. I named the new photo the same.

I get this error now when I try to register as a new member.

I could be way off base here but the error you just posted does not look like it has anything to do with the image change. Try un-publishing that geocoder tab thing and try it again. It could very well be that this problem has been there since you installed that but did not know because you only just now tried to register a new account to check the picture.
