[SOLVED] Categories Forum Setting

[SOLVED] Categories Forum Setting was created by drdehart
1. Is the Categories > [category-name] > Forum > Group Features > Forum Enable/Disable setting supposed to disable all the Group forums within a category as well?

The setting text says: "Select usage of category forums." But if it is disabled, all the Group forums within the category are disabled as well.

2. Also, if you select "Hide" in the Configuration > Group Features > Forum > Categories (Show/Hide) setting, which only hides the Category Forum tab (not Groups Forum tabs), the Categories > [category-name] > Forum > Group Features > Forum Enable/Disable setting is hidden as well.

Since Categories > [category-name] > Forum > Group Features > Forum Enable/Disable setting controls both Group and Category Forum tabs, it doesn't seem like hiding the Category Forum tab should also hide this setting.

Yes, disabling Category forums will disable forums for all groups in that category. This is because group forums are created as sub-forums of a category forum. In the same respect if you unpublish the Category it too basically unpublishs (really just disables) all Groups in that category.

Disabling category forums from public should have no affect on the groups ability to enable or disable forums. Show also have no affect on whether the enable/disable parameter is displayed for that category or not. I could not confirm this locally, however am on not yet release 2.3 which features forum access check fixes.

Hello

Just installed GJ 2.3 today and despite my best efforts I cannot get Kunena (1.6.3) to integrate with GJ - there is no Kunena forum tab under the group. I have selected Kunena 1.6 in the GroupJive>Configuration>Integrations>Forum Integration setting as well as enabled everything where I should have. What I cannot seem to figure out is how the two actually integrates. How do you make a forum post from within a group if it is not there. I can only see the other tabs Videos, Photos, Wall etc.. but no Forum tab.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Cliff

Ahhh, I managed to fix this. When I went into GJ>Tools, I noticed that there were "forum" errors with missing group id's - pressing "Fix All" did the trick and the Forum tab as well as "Group Forums" link now shows up! Yippee!

Sorry to have bugged you all!

Cheers

Cliff
