Default Public Tab Settings

Default Public Tab Settings was created by drdehart
When a group is created, all the tabs (Members, Forum, Files, Videos, ...) default to "Public = Yes" and the group creator has to recognize and change them to privatize the group. I don't think there are settings for this. If we want them to default to "Public = No" can you explain the required changes?

You'd need to edit each integrations PHP file and alter all the calls for that parameter to be with a default value of 0 instead of 1. No easy way to do it aside from a bunch of core changes that'd get lost with subsequent updates. No plans to implement a default parameter for the parameters, sorry; it would become just too bloated and configuration is over bloated as is.

I was afraid of that - hate to hack, it's a slippery slope. Just one more pleading then: change all the defaults to 0 instead of 1 in a future release. I don't know if you have a way to poll users, but IMO a default to private would be preferable. I think group owners are more likely to want the group's information kept within the group than be public to all. Furthermore, someone that wants the information private, fails to change the settings, then later finds that all the group's information is public is likely to be more upset than the opposite case.

My two cents.

Not going to happen, sorry. Most users want the features and it's easier if a user doesn't need to be concerned regarding the parameters on first creation. All are parameters and all are at the group owners disposal. It may sound blunt, but it's the own users fault for not reading the page they're looking at (that's like opening a manual, but not reading it; makes no sense).

Once I redo the backend to be more intuitive and better to configure (instead of tab based) then setting defaults will likely be provided. For the time being it won't happen as it's simply too much configuration overhead.
