Can this be done and what is needed?

Can this be done and what is needed? was created by serhiyi
I'm looking at option to extend my site but I can't find documentation or try functionality before buying product.

My goal is to have users regiter at site with only several fields required (name, login, email). Regitered user should have some limited access. I know this can be done with joomla alone.

Now I want to have user groups. Each group has aceess to content that available to group mambers only (i'm thinking about forum area for each froup). From what I read, this can be done by GroupJive (managing groups, joining members, moderators, etc.)

I would like to require some extra information from member in order to join to the group. For exmaple, as a registered user I only required to have user name and email, but when joining a gorup a full name and phone is required.
Can this be done? what is required?

One more thing. To join different groups, I need to have different criterias. For example, same user can join group of students from different schools if that user attended those schools. To join each group student has to provide information when he/she attended each school. I'd like to keep this iformation associated with the user, but the group can only see information that is related to that group, not other.
Can this be done? what is required to do it?

Thanks a lot.

CB registration can have whatever fields you want. Simple create them from CB > Field Management.

No, GroupJive is not usergroup management (I'm shocked how many keep making this mistake, it's very very clear on the GJ page). Please see the below page as to what GJ does.

For what you're wanting all you need is Joomla 2.5 and its built in ACL.

I would like to require some extra information from member in order to join to the group. For exmaple, as a registered user I only required to have user name and email, but when joining a gorup a full name and phone is required.

For GJ, no. There's no Group join requirements other then being registered.

For GJ you'd just set the group type to Approval and the group owner or group admin would need to approve their join requests. Could ask the user for more information or provide fields at registration for them to provide this information. The owner/admin would then just check the users profile.
