There are a number of solution depending upon exactly what you want to do and what your environment is.

CB registration will place users automatically in the group you specified in Joomla ( 2.5 -> Users -> User Manager -> Options -> New User Registration Group).

If you want users also to be placed in another group then you have 2 solutions - if you are using CBSubs then CBSubs plan subscription can do this.

You can also use CB Auto Actions (see our tutorials for a similar use case example).
