OK, after spending a full day getting CB Connect working we have to toss it out and go with JFB Connect form Sourcecoast now. The reason is that we cannot find a way to let users link an existing account with FB or LI with the CB connect addon like you can with JFB Connect or JFB Linked in. They provide a popup window that allows you to type in an existing login/password to link the accounts.

Unless I'm missing something, this is a glaring omission from CB Connect? The idea of having the FB and other account login tools is to make it easy for users to use. Making a user login then click a FB or other button to link is one step too many. We have over 30,000 users and this would be a nightmare especially when they go to use it and get the error message that this email already exists.

Are we missing something here?

The current workflows, as is on most popular sites using connect solutions, is login then link for linking to existing accounts. So this usage is not uncommon or unfamiliar to users. However, there are plans to implement a second solution. Instead of showing the email address is already registered it instead will show a login form for them to login and automatically link. This is a feature for next release as noted below.

Your request is now implemented into CB Connect 4.0.0. Please see the below news posts for details on this release. Twitter is also now working again.

If a user clicks to sign in and the email address is already registered they'll be completed with a page informing them of this. On this page they can either supply a new email address and register or login to link to an existing account. All of this is done before registration as well so no more invalid accounts.
