[SOLVED] Howto show text on profile based on another text field.

5 years 3 months ago - 5 years 3 months ago #309921 by rkreijveld
I have created a field "certification" which is a text field.
This field holds the year of certifcation, for example "2018".
In the public profile of a user I would to show a text "Certified" below the name.

The certification field is al so shown as a normal text field in the profile edit page for the user.

See example here: www.zkmvereniging.nl/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=userProfile&user=2017&Itemid=293

How would I be able to show "Certified" below the name on this profile view?

As for displaying it under the name in the canvas edit the "User Profile Page Title" tab in CB > Tab Management then under Parameters adjust "User Profile Title text" to whatever you like. It supports substitutions as explained in the below tutorial.

www.joomlapolis.com/documentation/279-community-builder/tutorials/18353-using-substitutions-throughout-cb

You'd simply substitute in your certificate field as part of the parameter or as part of its language string in a language override, which you can do as follows.

www.joomlapolis.com/blog/kyle/18701-language-overrides-have-arrived

Example as follows changing the parameter to use substitutions.

[name] [cb_certificate]

HTML is also allowed so feel free you add a linebreak or whatever necessary HTML to format it how you like.

Hi Kyle,

I'm afraid my client is running an older version of CB, version 2.1.0.
When I edit that Tab it says: There are no parameters for this item :-(
