Activity Feed & Database

I am guessing that if the Activity Plugin is disabled it does not log activity. Would this be a correct assumption?

I also wanted to get a sense of the how big database gets when activity is logged. I have seen the setting where the activity logs can be purged. From the looks of it by default 10 years worth of activity is set but can be changed

I am trying to get understanding as it relates to server performance and such. I expect this particular plugin will be one of the most active ones as it logs a lot of activity.

I am working on a site and at launch will likely not enable the feature yet. The member list will be small to start (under 50), but if the membership grows can see the activity feed database table(s) will get large faster and wondered what I need to be braced for.

Thanks!

Correct.

Depends entirely on how active your site is.

It has been performance tested for up to a million activity entries and performs perfectly fine at a million due to its database queries and database indexes entirely optimized around having that much data. There should not be any issues with it scaling. This will improve even more in later releases of CB Activity as I'm planning on further rewrites to activity and stream storage behavior.

I don't think you'll have anything to worry about.

Excellent news to hear about the database load, etc.

If the activity was initially and then turned off will it keep the old entries, in case its re-enabled?

Yes, the data will remain even if unpublished or uninstalled. All plugins require manual deletion of their database tables to completely remove them to prevent accidental data loss.
