It seems that there are some bugs concerning the newest version of Walter Cedric's Captcha security images and Joomla 1.0.12.

Have a look at his side at
www.waltercedric.com/content/category/32/304/247/ .

There you can find a patch for Joomla 1.0.12.

On the Joomla extensions directory there was also a guy who took the time of diggin' deeper into it as he wrote a howto on how to install the component. Look here extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,1211/Itemid,35/ .

I'm not sure if there are side effects concerning CB so be sure to take a backup before trying.

I hope it helps,
please inform us if it worked.

Cheers,
~christopher

well nice but the post of mihat doesnt work.
you can register even without typing the code in,so the check is just dead.

the patches are nice but not related to a working CB.
all files in the patch are for any standard components and login modules.

this is realy amazing that nobody with the proper skills ever had the idea to finally make that security images work with cb.

also amazing why this isnt built in into cb.

it sure gives the word community a new meaning huh...

Well you can always grant public write access to the forum. I never had any bots registered as long as they were able to post directly ;)

Oh sorry...
I just meant, that the reason for using these security images is only to prevent spam-bots from registering on your site and posting to your forums.

So if you allow public write access to your forum, they won't need to register to write their stuff and we're off with less registered spam bots.

But of course, this suggestions is not meant to be taken serious.

I too think that these images would not only be a valuable addition to CB but instead a very much needed, mandatory feature in these days...

Sorry for the confusion.
