I'd like to add that I've had a similar problem when trying to install the component onto my hosted server.

I can probably copy the files up via FTP, but what's the best way to run the SQL statements and the install.*.php files?

Hello,
I've got the same problem with CB installation.
The problem is probably not connected with file and directory permissions but with compatibility php version and/or system. Please note that I was able to install other components, templates, and modules.)

Here is my system information.

PHP Version 4.3.1
MySQL 4.0.23-nt

I tried patching it with safemode patch (Guess, this is just for unix system) and even tried installing CB through the directory but all failed.
