Please don't bump posts... likely no one that would have answered will. If they've subscribed to the topic, they have to wade through bumps... not cool.

As far as your question, you're better off adding informational text that states they will need to confirm this email address to register, so make sure it is valid before submitting or you will have to re-register with a correct email address.

Bump! Sorry - couldn't resist it!

While I agree putting text on the site is one way to 'help' people enter their details correctly, I would much prefer to force them to enter their details correctly, some people are still getting their email address wrong, even with guidance text. Is there no way that this feature can be implemented, either at the distribution level as a config option or by myself as a hack?

There's no way I know of to validate an email address for "mistypes". That's why CB allows you the option to check by sending the email confirmation, CB already checks for proper email address type entry.

On many websites you will have two email fields with a JavaScript and/or server-side script to check if the two values are different and return a prompt to the user to check their entry if they don't match - this would prevent the vast majority of mistyped emails from entering the system.

The two fields need to have distinct HTML names so that the browser will not attempt to auto complete them both with the same value.
