Internal Server Error (500) during Installation

Hello,

I'm facing this same problem. I tried setting the permissions on the components/com_comprofiler directory and rerunning the step 2 link to no avail.

I have extracted the pluginsfile.tgz file on my local drive and see the structure as extracted. I am a bit unclear as to where to put this? do I create a PLUGIN directory under the components/com_comprofiler directory and the copy the structure there ?

Once that is done do I then delete the pluginsfile.tgz file to get past the install check ?

If you have Joomla FTP enabled, try disabling. Also, set error reporting to default and debug off. All of these tend to slow down server response and can affect installations regardless of high execution time settings.

OK, I've tried to disable FTP from the global configuration / server section of Joomla but I get an error when I try to save:

An Error has occurred! Unable to open configuration.php file to write!

At this point I have uninstalled CB and tried to reinstall using Methods 1 & 2 as described in the documentation and get the same results as described earlier in this thread (ie plugisfiles.tgz still exists)

This is definitely a permissions setting. It looks as if you need to change the com_comprofiler directories under /components and administrator/components both to writable (755 should be sufficient)... and all files under both directories should be at 644.

Hello Beat,

it was a timeout problem. Using the php.ini I set the maximum execution time to 300 s, and then it worked. But before I had manually to remove each rest of the old installation tries.

It would be helpful to get an overview with ALL directory and file structure of the community builder components, so that a complete manual installation (similar as the Joomla updating process) is possible.

Best regards

Martin
