If it was closed in June, (incorrectly by the looks of things), what happens now?

I plan to apply this update on our Joomla 1.7 installation on our social support network site but I wonder if it addresses the issue of permissions in Joomla 1.7? Since CB does not rely on the usergrouping and permissions, but the rest of Joomla and other extensions do, we are having a terrible time getting everything to work properly on the Pro package we just purchased. Does this update.... or a soon to be released future version cover that?

Good work! I just updated my Joomla 1.7.2 site to this new release without any problems!

i dont know is it bcoz of CB but my user on local server setup automatically get deassigned from any group, even if i manually assign them to say registered group then minutes later they dont belong to any group
i am using k2, AUP, CB 1.7.1 and joomla 1.7.2 every time its happening

After the installation on two different sites (Joomla 1.7.0 and 1.7.2), in both versionst the user-edit-page has a critical behaviour, if a user is member of more than one group: Only one group is selected and only a part of the whole group-hierarchy is displayed. (see attached screen)

Workaround:
1. Edit the user in the CB-editpage
2. Modify the groups of the user in the standard Joomla userprofile

--> no idea, if this workaround is dangerous
