email not working

email not working was created by libby
The lost password retrieval system on my site is not working. Email is working on other email functions on the site such as the newsletter and the email a friend function.

The site produces a page saying the username or password has been sent but these emails are never received.

I have seen several other people reporting this problem but no solution. In fact I see the admin has locked several of these unsolved threads. What does that mean? Is it a bug?

Joomla 1.5.8
1.2 RC 3

I changed the Registraton Email Address and that fixed the problem, but the strange thing is that the system was working and then stopped. I think it may have stopped when we upgraded to 1.5.8 and 1.2 RC 3. I think the Registraton Email Address was copied over in the upgrade.
Does that sound possible?

Please upgrade to RC4 and check your configuration parameters again.

Well I installed the login module and shut down the Joomla login via Global settings...

Not only did my email totally stop... it stopped for just sending messages...for new users waiting for their confirmation email also..

I turn the joomla login back on and VIOLA email starts working again...hummm

I'm using SMTP because I am running a home server and it just works...

Suggestions?

Is SMTP properly configured via joomla backend global configuration?

You need to unpublish the joomla login module and replace with the CB login module. This won't affect e-mail.

You do not have to use independent registration settings, but it's simply recommended. If using the global settings works then continue to use the global settings, but the CB login module is still required.
