Can somebody help me?

here's the scenario:

If a new user register on my site, I want to make him an Author automatically without editing his user profile...

I know how to do this on the past version of cb but now I can't seem to find the code that I want to change...

I'm using Joomla 1.0.15 with cb 1.2 rc4...

any help is much appreciated
