Emails not sent on registration

I am having a similar issue. For some reason, the system just stopped sending registration e-mails. It did and still does send the confirmation e-mails to the user who registered.

First was running 1.2 RC4 then upgraded to 1.2 Stable on Joomla 1.5.7. Then retested everything still same issues with no registration emails, and upgrade went fine.

So, figured what the heck, upgrade to 1.5.9 to just flush it all out.

E-mails send from core Joomla just fine, users get registration confirmation, and even using Chronoforms and that works just fine e-mailing the form data.

I tried everything suggested in this thread, including change e-mail addresses in the CB registration section.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi. I've just noticed this problem too and I've spent about an hour and a half solving it. It's embarrassingly simple and I hope this works for you.

My setup needs the registrations to confirm their email and then the account needs approving by an admin. Suddenly I've stopped receiving these emails and didn't realise I had a few users waiting.

It looks like CB now honours all the little settings that didn't matter before. I'll elaborate...

For my setup as detailed above:

Site Configuration -> System
Joomla allow registration - off

CB -> Configuration -> Registration
CB registration - independently of site
Require admin approval - yes
Require email approval - yes

CB -> Configuration -> Moderation
Moderator groups - somegroup (mine is admin)
Moderators approve users - yes
Send moderators email - yes

CB -> User Management -> Group that contains your moderators
Check your moderators and make sure that:
Receive moderator emails - YES

This last one is the one that caught me out. I've not had that set to yes for the nearly 3 years I've used CB!!!

It all now works! Hope this helps someone else.

Well, this solve part of my problem. So thank you.

Prior to the current issue, CB would automatically send an e-mail on any new user that was auto approved. I modified the template and got all the user registration info we need to book a class.

Now with your changes to the Moderator section (my Admin was set to get moderator e-mails) a new Registration e-mail is now sent to me as the moderator, not as the person outlined in the Registration section under Configuration.

So I still have a problem, but now at least the moderator gets a notification.

Today we missed 2 prospective customers who registered.

So thanks for your input, it really helped.

If any one else is/was experiencing a challenge with the CB auto approval sending of e-mails please let me know if you have a fix.

Thanks again matt!

My fix was simple just go into the admin of joomla
-> Global Config
-> SERVER
-> check the SMTP Authentication to NO

That solved mine!! LOL B)

hello everyone!

I have the same problem "Emails not sent on registration" as many people out there as I discovered. And in my case only the gmail marks the emails as spam.
After one day navigation, I didnt find any solution,so I installed the Cb component, especially for this case (i didnt regret it;). Anyhow,the problem still exists-resists even after I tested all the instructions given in this topic).But I realised after this article that I must search the start of the misfunction in my hosting service provider

www.compassdesigns.net/joomla-blog/Joomla-Confirmation-emails-to-hotmail-and-aol.html
(go to Richard Carter comment)

So I communicated with my providers and they asked me if there's any way to make the confirmation emails text only (no html).Then I should be able to bypass the filters. Unfortunatly I havent found it yet and I am not a programmer. If anybody has any idea?:huh:

Hi Folks,

I'm working with Joomla for the first time, running on localhost while I check it all out, but I am having similar difficulties with e-mail.

I don't receive any e-mails at all: none as the person registering and none as the administrator and none as the moderator.

I have tried the different combinations suggested here and tried the different mail server options (PHP, sendmail, and SMTP), but I see no difference in behaviour.

Any further suggestions?

Thanks,
Lewis
