The CB Team has just released version 2.0 of its Captcha plugin to the Joomlapolitans who are financially supporting us as subscribers to the documentation service. Current documentation subscribers will find that their private download area now contains 3 files: the CB 1.1 detailed documentation pdf file (144 pages – 85 figures), the CB PMS Integration document pdf file (17 pages – 15 figures) and the (just in) Captcha 2.0 plugin distribution package.

 The CB Captcha 2.0 plugin is compatible with CB 1.1 (and above) installations. Installation of this plugin on prior to CB 1.1 releases will fail.

The CB Captcha 2.0 plugin took over 2 man-months of effort to complete. This effort includes research, design, coding and testing. This plugin contains the following functionality – features - characteristics:

• Lightweight, compact design
• Visual and audio Captcha generation
• Audio Captcha generation uses dynamic stitching technique of light weight MP3 Nato phonetic files
• Audio Captcha playback via nice popup media playback window
• Extensive set of configurable backend parameters including:
  • Image dimensions
  • Image text, background and noise color
  • Number of security characters to be generated in Captcha image
  • Configurable character set to be used in Captcha image
  • Ability to decide if audio and visual Captcha should be generated or visual only
• Backend test generation based on current parameters (thus allowing website administrators to see what current parameter settings will generate in front-end)
• Backend prerequisite checklist (for GD library and Freetype)
• Plugin now generates image from separate php file, thus IMAGE and SOUND generation is unaffected by header garbage introduced in template or language files
• Captcha security settings can be enforced in one or more (Captcha plugin backend configurable) of the following CB related processes:
  • CB registration process
  • CB lost password process
  • CB profile emailing process
  • CB contact component process (CB contact 1.1 component)
  • CB login form process (with new CB login module not yet released)
• Captcha plugin events added for further integration with other (future) CB plugins

As stated this plugin can be downloaded free of charge to all our financial supporters currently subscribed to the CB Documentation service. Without this group’s support, the CB Team would not be able to continue the (hopefully appreciated) development of the Community Builder suite and all the CB Team released plugins (CB Profilebook, CB Gallery, CB Autowelcome, CB Authorbot).
