Thank you very much for your responses, krileon. I know that I've been a pain by continually asking for information on a timeframe but, as you can see, information is our most valued commodity for, without it, we're feeling lost and abandoned. In my (nearly) 40 years of working in IT, whenever somone asked me how long it would take to deliver something, and I didn't have a specific answer, I would say "3 months" simply because that was the average time it typically took to get things done (unless I was working on a multi-million dollar project and then I'd say "3 months ... for the feasibility study").
I hope you'll allow me the indulgence of addressing one or two things you wrote:

Which is the same response you'll get from Kunena about their status. Actually that's not the same response Kunena is providing. They're providing ongoing updates on the status of their work.
"In progress" could mean that it's at the conceptualising stage, or the feasibility stage, or the analysis stage, or at the design, development, coding, testing or implementation stages. That "there is no definite time frame" is quite apparent: there's no news in that observation! We're all intelligent people and we're capable of figuring that out for ourselves.
krileon wrote: You've misunderstood what I meant by massive. Kunena is facing a massive overhaul (table name changes, function name changes, the whole nine yards..). This has yet to happen. Therefore developing a completely new forum plugin at this time would be in no-one's favor and pull away from valuable development time as, once the overhaul was done, a new plugin again would have to be completely redeveloped.Actually, I think I got the gist of your observation on massiveness in scale about right! This is, however, slightly at odds with what Beat led us to conclude in his contribution to the discussion.
In the absence of any concrete specifics, Beat said there would be changes for the next minor release of Community Builder; we might infer that he was speaking about changes for Kunena 1.0.9 in that context. The major changes for Kunena are coming either with V1.5 (or soon thereafter).
However, krileon seems to be suggesting that work directed towards Kunena 1.0.9 would be wasted effort. Is that how I should interpret what was written? In short, itgl72 has his answer: 3 months sounds like a reasonable timeframe for making plans.

Hello,
attached the two files which must be changed so that it works with Kunena, Fireboard, Simpleboard and Joomlaboard. I've added a 4th entry for select Kunena as Forum

@ sozzled
No development towards 1.0.9 is not wasted time, but there is nothing to develop towards. No code to implement. Nothing. Until they've made it. Then the forum plugin can't be upgraded to 1.0.9.
That's great that they are providing ongoing information, but they likely do not have nearly as many projects ongoing as CB. They are also providing this information for Kunena it self, not all of its minor integrations.
Changes have to be made to CB it self because the forum plugin is a default plugin which is installed with CB package. It's not something that can just be released and folks simply uninstall and reinstall the plugin as you can't uninstall these plugins and having them replace in an expert upgrade manor is not very user friendly.
So your time frame is: After 1.0.9 has released. Kyle (Krileon) Community Builder Team Member

@sozzled:
Please do not spread misinformation: this is certainly false.
I'm now locking this thread, as it has been replied at great length and in details, and even has a temporary workaround solution in it, and is going off-topic. This is just taking time away of the path to Kunena integration into core CB, and further delays it, which is probably not what anybody in here wanted. Do not open a new thread about this, as it will be considered as trolling and handled accordingly by site moderators.
You are welcome to support both teams, CB and Kunena, to speed up development, e.g. by donating or by subscribing documentation, if you want to help. Beat (beat) Community Builder Team Member
