CB and Mambo 4.6.5 installation problems

To start with, I am a blind user trying to get Mambo up and running.
I am running Mambo 4.6.5 and have just downloaded and installed CB. The problem that I am having is adding the menu items.
According to the install .pdf file, I need to add menu items that point to the component/module. However, when I go into the user menu and try to add an item, I first get a list of things to choose from. I have tried all of the component things with no avail (I am trying to get the Users List component added first).
After I choose either component or component link in the first list, it takes me to a screen that asks for the name, the component - says url: - but there is no text box there to put the url/link into.
Am I looking in the wrong place?
I am not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination, so "Dummies" version of help would be greatly appreciated.
I am going to check Mambo's forum and see if I can find help for this there, too, but was hoping that maybe someone here had run into the same problem and had a fix for it.
