I've just installed CB 1.0 on my Mambo v4.5.3h. Everything works with the exception of CB Profile where I get a 500 Internal Server Error saying the server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Not sure what's going wrong here. When I go to the user list, all the user's appear. I loaded the sample data, synchronised the users.
Any ideas?

Given that Mambo is not supported, perhaps someone could provide some assistance, or be recommended?

I think that the upgrade to Joomla (at least v1.0.8) is the solution being inferred.

Yes, well unfortunately a shift to Joomla is not an option at this point. What is of greater concern to me in looking at CB is the claim that it will work with Mambo and yet when there is a problem, there doesn't appear to be a modicum of assistance available.
Perhaps it would be in CB's interest to remove claims of Mambo compatibility.
I guess this means I will have to work out a solution to the error myself, or implement an alternative to meet my requirements.
At any rate, given there is unlikely to be ongoing support for Mambo as it evolves, CB isn't likely to be a suitable application going forward.

Have you really installed mambo v5.2.3?
I assume that you meant to type 4.5.2.3?
Well there are alot of CB installations on such mambo versions. No internal server errors have been found (as I remember). Can you give more information about your installation.
An yes, it is very unlikely that future mambo versions will be supported by the CB team - just not enough manpower to support both directions.
