problem when using friendly url

Hi everybody. I'm using CB with joomla 1.1 and everything goes ok till I flag on my friendly url option from joomla's control panel: in the user profile is impossible now to save modifies 'cos it doesn't save anythig but just brings home. Deflag friendly url and everything's ok.
what can I do? (I'd like to use friendly url..obviously ..)

If your server is running apache, then check to make sure you have renamed your htaccess.txt file to (dot)htaccess

Where i put (dot), use a . instead. I have to type it this way, because the forum will not allow me to mention that correct filename, for security reasons.

The file should be in your root web directory.

I've done it from the 1st time...i also tried to reinstall CB but yet it doesn't work. better...everything works fine less profile saving. other suggestions?
