Can't get public access to user gallery

I've set access level at the plugin for nants gallery to public, but still get a: "
Only Registered Members Allowed to view the 2 items in this Gallery!"

Am I doing something wrong?

I'm using joomla 1.0.10, CB 1.0.1 and latest nants plugin 1.0 RC2

I just found out that the user has to enable public access - is there anyway to make this decision a administrator one?

Or at least make it public by default?
