2008 Membership?

I noticed, when I signed up and paid for membership, that it said 2008. Does that mean on January 1st, 2009, my membership expires, even though I just joined on June 15th? Or does it mean that on June 16th, 2009, my membership will need to be renewed? I would imagine that the membership is for a year and does not expire at the end of the year. Could you please clarify? Thanks.
Using Joomla 1.5.6, CB 1.2 RC2 on a Linux server, with PHP 5.2.6, MySQL5 5.0.27 and eAccelerator 0.9.5.3. (No backend access for support.)

Currently it is a physical end of year thing.
This will be taken care of soon and all subscribers will have 12 months no matter when they subscribed.
We will even migrate existing subscribers.
