Quick question about CB subscription

As a user of CB, I can't wait for this one to come out to the public. However, that being said. I plan to use this subscription service for my site on downloads, in which case only subscribed members may download from my site. That being said, here is my question. Does the subscription plugin, after bought it, changes a member status from let's say Registered to Publisher? Because I plan to use it with docman download, which will allow only specific user groups into a category/section. Or does the subscription plugin already has that kind of a function?
