As seen in social networking site, 4th or 6th Degree Networking.
Idea is simple. When we click on a profile, we see connections(1st degree) of that profile. A SQL query will bring all connections of 1st degree connections except those are already in 1st degree connection list which is 2nd degree for that profile. Thus other queries will bring and show 3rd and 4th degree etc.
I wish I could code this myself. Any helpers there?
NB. Though showing connections with graphical coneection lines with nodes is the best idea, for now I will be satisfied with non graphic(mentioned above) style.

Just a word of warning : this can be quite database-intensive and should be approached with some caution on large sites.
But yes - interesting idea

There must be some ways to do with without less db loads. What abt keeping 3 tables for second_connections, third_connections, fourth_connections (first_conecctions already exist).

This degree of connections is for viewing other users' connection network, not for viewing self connections. Many famous social networking site has this feature.
Btw, steve, I don't see "Your connection path to f... (2 degrees)" in my installation. I only see "You are directly connected to user". How to show it like your image?

lol.. if ur user A thats connected to user B.. you get direct connection when you view user B profile..
now make a user C, and make it connected to user B.. when you (A) now view C, you will see more interesting effects..
You can now create a user D, that is connected to user C, if you (A) now view user D you get a second degree effect.
