I am looking for a cb extension that will allow me to assign members to a team and those members update their team details in their profile

Think what would best fit your needs is something like GroupJive, where users can have groups or "teams" of multiple users. Please see GroupJive boards or search; latest release is 1.8 B5 or workgroup (tester) available 2.0.
