I want to modify the lauout of the cb groupjive template. I've searched on the server for the location but can't seem to find. Where should I look?

Template files are located in the template folder of GJ. The path is as follows.
components/com_comprofiler/plugin/user/plug_cbgroupjive/templates/

How do we go about removing EVENT CATEGORY Information from the view? As well as items like Type from the Group listings? These are very confusing to people when just coming to a site.

You'll need to edit the respective template files. For example group_pane.php handles the left display when viewing a group. There you can remove the type. Then category_main.php holds the loop for displaying groups, there you'd need to remove the type as well. There's several locations that the type is displayed, you'll simply need to remove them from their respective templates. Please see previous post for path to template files.
