Where can I find links to somewhere that explains what groupjive is and what it is used for. I think I've tried the obvious places, but maybe I obviously haven't.

Our forge is the best resource, but believe groupjive.org is still active if you wish to review any content there (albeit I believe outdated content). GroupJive simply put allows creation of groups. Such as groups on Facebook, MySpace, etc...

Hi everyone,

Is it safe to just install this over an older, existing groupjive 1.8 installation? I did it on a test site which is a clone of my live site and it blew away all the previously made groups, members, etc.

Thanks for any info,
Robin :)

Yes, it uses the same database, but you should always create a back-up just encase. Best approach is an "expert" type installation such as copy/paste/replace.

Just wanted to say thanks for the work on 1.8! I have been using GJ since it's early days even to go as far as use a beta on my production site because it really provided what my groups needed.

Looking forward to more features and more integration with other event/calendar extensions as well as more vesalitity on the group homepage like moving things around and adding modules/templates.

Thanks again!

Hello.

Thanks very much for this release. I have installed it and everything works fine.

Question #1:

Where can I download mods and plugins for GJ 1.8? (Like NewestGroups, MyGroups, LatestBulletins, LargestGroups, GroupjiveSearchbot, etc)

Will mods and plugins released in the link below work with GJ 1.8?:

joomlacode.org/gf/project/groupjive/frs

Question #2:

Are they Language packs or files (Translations) for GJ 1.8? Can someone tell me if there is a french and Portuguese translation available and where to download them from?. I have googled the web and I coulndn't find any.

Many Thanks.

Don't know, we did not develop any plugins or modules for 1.8.

The database is unchanged in GJ 1.8, so they will all probably still work.

GJ 1.8 is not very supportive of muli-lingual usage. GJ 2.0 will have full translatability. Am not aware of any available language plugins or files at this time, sorry.
