i've spent an hour on that now, and i'm still stumped. Why only your site and only in Firefox mac, and only for sound ???

I asked Kyle to take a fresh eye look at the code and he will do it in next days.

here's an update. if i click on the option to download the file and play locally, i am able to hear all 5 characters.

This would mean the audio file is being pieced together correctly, but not streamed correctly. Possibly an issue with your browser it self or your quicktime release is out of date possibly (or corrupt).
