Unfortunately, no. The errors displayed are just saying your site can't find a custom 403 page. Is there any other errors relating to today (2/4/2011) as this is when I performed tests?

Nope, none are fatal errors that would cause a 403. Are you able to contact your host for them to look at security logs or something of the sort to see if maybe mod_security is blocking certain pages? Does the user you specified within Joomla global configuration for database access have complete and full access to the database?

mod_security not blocking anything.
Database user has all priviliges.
Are we missing the point here - it all worked perfectly until I upgraded with the new version?

As long as this is not happening when saving CBSubs or Plans, etc.. it's not an issue as saving any of the integrations is irrelevant (you can change publish state, access, etc.. directly from Plugin Management) as they have no parameters (except fields tabs protection). I can't duplicate your issue locally and can't see any other cause then bad permissions. The only issue I see is the below, which could be the cause.

Basically your host has Apache configured to not permit group permissions, but group permissions is set likely for the plugins in question; whether the plugin folder, its PHP files, etc.. I do not know.

I had the same error. My host recreated the problem at their end. It turned out mod_security rules set recently were the cause and was resolved after they white-listed my site.
