https for login and registration

https for login and registration was created by startup
Hello!

We're using CB 1.3.1 and want to have the login and registration process where users entering safety data like username and password secured by https.

What is the best way to achieve this? Rest of the side should be normal "http".
In general we have https support from the provider and a valid ssl certificate.

Any tips are welcome

Best regards
Frank

You can't switch from HTTP and HTTPS on the fly without issues. You've basically the option of HTTP or HTTPS otherwise when transitioning from one to the other the users session and cookies will be lost (unless they're logged into https AND http at the same time). At any rate within CB Login module you can configure it to use HTTPS for login, believe this will apply to registration as well.

Hi Krileon,

thanks for your answer. I missed that dropdown box in CB Login module - thanks for pointing me to the right direction. But unfortunatelly the signup is not secured by https. Do you know if this is a feature in CB 1.4? If no, what would be a solution to secure the signup process as well ?

Best regards
Frank

Module parameter also affects the registration link in the login module. Please ensure "HTTPS (encrypted) login, register and lost password" is set to "use https for posting login then same" or "use https (encrypted) for login and after login". Have confirmed (CB 1.4) this will set the registration link to point to HTTPS.

Hi!

Yes, I tried both "use https for posting login then same" and "use https (encrypted) for login and after login" - with these settings the login point to https but the whole registration process is still done under http - so I guess that this is an error of CB 1.3.1 or do I need any other components/modules to be configured that registration points to https ?

Does CB 1.4 still runs under Joomla 1.5.22 ?

Best regards

Did not try previous releases, confirmed working on CB 1.4.

Yes of course.
