until now i was busy fixing the community builder and private messages section on my site.

this evening i turned to contents, and to my horror i discovered that there is no way i can fill the contents under news, news feeds etc and blog too.

is this due to an isntallation error?

Not sure what you mean here -- what is the error you're receiving?

Check the "content" tab on the administrator toolbar -- does it appear in the backend?

actually itried contents.
for instance front page management.
when i click one, i get a box like an e-mail box for hmtl editing. but i am unable to get into it. clicking the mouse in the box doesnt work.

so i find no way to key in any content.

Okay -- what browser are you using? Perhaps try a different browser -- its most likely you are having a problem with the editor -- you can choose a different editor in the global site settings in Joomla.
