Thanks for the code. It works great.

However, I ran into a problem where I have many username that are in Chinese Big5 character. It works if I turn those character into standard western europe (ISO).

If I literally paste the Chinese character into the URL domain.com/chineseword it would get a profile does not exist.

I don't suppose there's a way is there?

I must admit to struggling with this one.
Forgetting the mod rewrite angle for now, the direct url quoted doesn't work for me.

This simply doesn't work.
index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=userProfile&user=DeanMarshall

Just in case it is the 'name' rather than 'user name' I tried this:
index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=userProfile&user=Dean%20Marshall

In either case I get the same error message:
"This profile does not exist or is no longer available"

Community Builder 1.0.1

My question therefor is - is this a feature that was lost in a point upgrade?
Is there a specific module or file that I need to upgrade?
Is there an error in the query string I am trying to use?

Any help very much appreciated.

User error - please insert new user!

Here was my error - I spotted whilst looking at the htaccess mod rewrite rule:

[code:1]RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/?$ index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=userProfile&user='$1' [L][/code:1]

Notice those apostrophes.

So the correct url is:
index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=userProfile&user='DeanMarshall'

Now with that sorted - I can do the mod rewrite stuff.
