I just got back from holiday to find that my site has been taken offline by the server tech guys because an email sent out from "message groups"
this email was reported as spam by someone, and I get back from holiday to find that the site has been offline for a week, loosing not only our position on the searches, but quite a few users
.
All I did one day while setting up the "new group" software was too send out a message re: "Welcome to bla bla groups" on a category....while I was just testing out groupjive
.
I won;t do that again

This has nothing to do with GroupJive, but your host abusing its position. The message feature is doing exactly as its intended to do, send a message to a groups users. You can change the method notifications are sent out as within GJ configuration to use PMs (you'll need UddeIM) instead of emails.
