I did the same thing as he did, and then I ventured into the database to check on the problem tables ...to sync users didn't work. I did it when I installed CB.
All was OK till the 31st member.
But now, it doesn't work anymore.
I explain :
- a person registers herself with the CB Login module.
- she isn't in the memberlists (neither in Joomla's memberlist nor in CB's memberlist)
- she receives a mail to confirm her email address
- she confirms
- she is still not in the memberlists (neither in Joomla's memberlist nor in CB's memberlist) so I can't confirm her registration. Fortunately, she is in the CB Moderator Module list. So I can confirm.
- she receives an email of confirmation.
- she is still not in the memberlists (neither in Joomla's memberlist nor in CB's memberlist).
But she is in the tables 'jos_users' and 'jos_comprofiler' of database. But she isn't in the tables 'jos_core_acl_aro' and 'jos_core_acl_groups_aro_map'. If I fill in those 2 tables with phpmyadmin then the person appears in the two memberlists.

Dang it, sorry guys:
I'm also looking at the user_id value, and it looks like it should be set to auto_increment, too. Am I right?

sounds like you have a db problem.. as this is handled by the db..
if you are knowledgable you could try to add the auto increment setting manually using phpmyadmin, but this sounds tricky.. else i suggest making a backup of your db, remove all the tables, and doing a complete reinstallation
