Formal LDAP Support?

Formal LDAP Support? was created by MegaBurn
I know its a bit late for adding features to CB1.1 but is there any chance of adding formal support for LDAP?

I want to use CB as a central user profile manager for a new game/mod forge site. I'm having two problems, both would be solved if CB had built in support for LDAP.

1. The current crude system of using JAuthTools to sync Joomla with LDAP and then a Joomla hack to auto sync Joomla with CB does not allow for syncing CB values with LDAP.

2. The JSMF patch on J! index.php breaks the CB auto syncing hack.

(3. I don't have nearly enough PHP skill/experience to implement LDAP in CB on my own. I think I can hack together a custom LDAP schema and syncing for MediaWiki, Gallery2, G-Forge, and FTP/mail account/profile values in the CB profiles.)

I'm using J! 1.0.12, CB 1.0.2, JSMF 2.0.2, SMF 1.1.12. SMF doesn't support LDAP at all so I'm stuck relying on CB and JSMF, or switching to a different forum package with full LDAP support and extensible profiles (phpBB3 is starting to look a lot less fugly in this regard).

So, any hope for LDAP in CB1.1 or any suggestions for my profile problem?

Thanks,
