You can't create a group in CG, neither in frontend nor backed, if you haven't created first group categories for GroupJive

Yes, of coz I've started with this...making the groupcategory in GJ, and a forum top category in Kunena. I have setup the integration ig GJ to yes and added the forum topcategory ID, saved...

Went to frontend to make a group in GJ with a user...in the group profile nothing about a forum thing appeared..so this integration seems to be totaly dead...not functional... or there must be some trick to makes it alive...

It is not, as I managed to make the magic in my own site, with some problems though

yes but in GJ there is two fields about the forum integration: 'YES' and the forum category id.

So its quite hard to make a mistake in the setup...

Is there in Kunena something to focus on?

Not really, Kunena does nothing in this integration, it just sits there and see them coming

But I'm not sure if the CB API required for this is in 1.5.5, think it's added in 1.5.6, we plan to release it soon
