CB AutoWelcome Plugin - 1.0 Basic Notes

17 years 4 months ago #26063 by nant
For those of you who do not follow my blog ( ), I am about ready to release my CB AutoWelcome plugin.

Basically, this plugin can be configured to send all newly approved CB members a personalized email message and/or a personalized private message. The plugin can also be configured to automatically issue a new connection request from or to the newly approved member to or from a prespecified existing CB site member.

The backend parameters look like this:

Sample autowelcome messages follow.

The automated email message may look like this:

NOTE:

This is a message from admin at Joomla 1.0.11 Local Test Site ( http://localhost/xampp/joomla ).

This user did not see your email address. If you reply the recipient will have your email address.

Joomla 1.0.11 Local Test Site owners cannot accept any responsibility for the contents of the email and of user email addresses.

Message from admin to you:

Hello Nick A,

Welcome to our site!

The site is dedicated to the Community Builder component - Joomla's most popular extension (see extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,210/Itemid,35/).
The first time you login to Joomlapolis, you will be automatically (one of many CB feature) taken to the "Getting Started" article (www.joomlapolis.com/content/view/2236/). Please take the time to read this.

You will also see that there are 2 private messages waiting for you.
You can access your own private message box by clicking on the blinking envelope icon under your "No Image" avatar.

The first private message (first one received is actually second in the stack) provides additional information to help you get up to speed with the site and its content.

The second message notifies you that a connection request is pending your approval (or rejection). The username requesting to connect with you is demo4connections created by the Joomlapolis team to illustrate the connections feature built into the Community Builder (like a buddy system).

There are tons of features built into CB and many more that can be added by third party CB plugins.

So login to Joomlapolis and get started on this wonderful learning experience.

The Joomlapolis Welcoming Committee

P.S. Please do not reply to this email message as it is automatically sent by the system (autowelcome plugin). All your questions should be posted as forum items in the CB Newbies area - hopefully some fellow Joomlapolitan will help you out.

The automated PMS message may look like this:

Welcome to Joomlapolis!

Hello again Nick!

This private message (along with a corresponding email message - hopefully you read it already) was generated by the Community Builder autowelcome plugin (currently in testing - has not been released yet).

The autowelcome plugin has also generated a connection request to illustrate one of the core CB features (see the other private message waiting for you for details).

Now that you are a member of the Joomlapolis site you should take your time to familiarize yourself with the site and the capabilities of the Community Builder suite.

You have already experienced the extended registration process (with all the extra fields).

You can visit your Community Builder profile by clicking on your (currently empty) avatar image or by selecting the My CB Profile item in the User Menu (left column).
Then you can use the CB Menu to upload your own avatar image which will be approved by the CB designated moderator (another CB feature).

You probably have a million questions, but before you start posting them please take the time to read all articles in the Community Builder section of the site (click on the Community Builder link in the horizontal menu above).

Also, before posting, please search the forums - there is a ton of information our there and chances are that your question has been previously addressed.

Once again ... Welcome to Joomlapolis - home of the Community Builder!

P.S. Please do not reply to this private message as it is automatically sent by the system (autowelcome plugin). All your questions should be posted as forum items in the CB Newbies area - hopefully some fellow Joomlapolitan will help you out.

Finally, an automated connection request may look like this:

You have a pending connection from admin!

NOTE: This is a message generated automatically by the Connections system. It has the connecting user's address, so you can conveniently reply if you wish to.

admin is requesting to connect with you and requires your approval. Please accept or deny the connection request accordingly. admin included the following personal message:

This connection request has been generated by the Community Builder autowelcome plugin (currently in testing - has not been released yet). The username requesting this connection is not associated with a real person and has been created for the soul purpose to demonstrate the Connections functionality built into the Community Builder Suite.

Please click on the Manage Connections link bellow to approve or reject this request.

Manage Connections

Actually, the previous samples will be used on Joomlapolis to welcome new users.

More proof about the power of the CB API!
