i upgraded to CB 1.2 and still had the same issue. So I dumped the whole project. Yup deleted it all and started over. I whiped the subdomain and started a new one. Reinstalled joomla, then installed CB, made sure it worked, then istalled GroupJive, made sure it worked then installed the other mods I like to run.

Everything is working fine now. I forgot to come back yesterday and let you know. :o) Thanks for the reply.
